CROW and GROW go seedbombing

A very productive CROW walk in collaboration with GROW community Garden. We set out on a mission to seed bomb some neglected sites in the city, do some guerrilla gardening en route and take in some other gardens / planting that the city has to offer.

First stop Old Bank of Ireland, Royal Ave
We planted up the neglected stainless steel window planters on the Royal Ave facade of the now derelict bank. They now contain a motley collection of plants including brassica, fuchsia, geranium, bizzie Lizzie nestercian and marigold, to mention a few.

We then went on to do a spot of seedbombing using the seedbombs made at Sundays GROW session at Millfield / Samuel St, followed by a spit of land on Peters Hill next to the moterway. Our last seedbombs were launched on some waste ground on Townsend St.

We then came out onto the planted meadow at Divis St, which was lush with dog dazier, poppies and cornflowers with a sprinkling of cow slips. It was greatly admired. It was here that we assembled and planted up some planters made from old election posters that we found blown down. We then placed these on the traffic island on Divis St flanked by more election posters on the eve of the by election resulting from Adam's resigning his West Belfast seat.

On down Barracks St towards the South of the city where we took in a range of sites ripe for future guerrilla gardening actions. Trees on Durham St could use a prune of their lower branches, and there is a plot of land in front of a billboard on Victoria St crying out for some planters and a Church on University Rd with growns overgrown with budelia.

We finished off with a visit to a secluded community garden off Eglantine Ave. A productive morning.
